April Downing NAMI of Dauphin County

April Downing is the Executive Director of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Dauphin County Pa where she supports, educates, advocates, and provides resources to individuals with mental health conditions, their family and friends, and the community. She completed an MBA in Human Resource Management with a minor in Human Services at Elizabethtown College. In 2019 she became a certified life coach to further her skills in helping individuals reach personal life goals.

April has worked with non-profit organizations for over 20 years with a passion for underserved individuals to help build her community. She has worked as a director of parent engagement for those living below the poverty level. April also has experience working with incarcerated mothers to reunify with their children once released from prison. She was integral in forming a male involvement group called Connect with HIM to get males more engaged in the education of their children. Throughout her many years of service in the non-profit field she recognized that mental health was a common thread for many. Mental health does not discriminate based on any socio-economics barriers. Families no matter the population or zip code they identify deserve help.
