Hershey Lodge - Magnolia AB
United States of America

Join Dr. Ben Fredrick as he gives an update on Penn State Hershey's Global Health initiative. Included will be an update on the Hershey Rotary collaboration with the Eastern Regional Hospital in Ghana.

Dr. Fredrick is a professor of family and community medicine, public health sciences, and humanities at the Penn State College of Medicine.

He serves as the founding director of the medical center’s Global Health Center.  The Global Health Center coordinates international collaborations for the College of Medicine.  He is the director of the Global Health Scholars Program for medical students.

His primary international involvements have been in Haiti and Ghana.  For Haiti he and his wife Jen formed a non-profit called Thriving Villages International which serves a very poor and remote area called Pestel with some of the basics of life such as water, education, and nutrition.

In Ghana he has overseen a robust collaboration between the Penn State Hershey Medical Center and the Eastern Regional Hospital.
