The Club received an inside report fromPaul Metzger and Jen Feldser on the many performing arts opportunities during the upcoming season at the Hershey Symphony and Hershey Area Playhouse. Both volunteer local organizations are operating at a remarkable level in providing cultural events to our community! Rotarians have been super patrons of the arts and most are familiar with the quality of the performances, under often challenging financial conditions. Please keep up the support!

Two ceremonies took place during the meeting:

John Davidson received a Paul Harris Award in recognition of his great service to the Club and the community. (John was previously President of the Middletown Rotary Club)

Jim Gainer was inducted and warmly welcomed into the Club. As the Director of Hope Springs Farm, with a mantra of 'Everyone Deserves to Live a Life of Meaning,' Jim comes ready to serve.  His organization will be doing just that in October as he will 'host' our international exchange students for a work project during their offsite in Hershey.

And, the football season is approaching, as Steve Gelder continued the buildup to the Cocoa Bean Game. This will be another great opportunity to have a major Rotary presence at a local sports event, raise significant funds for the Interact Club at the two schools (Milton Hershey and Hershey) and mostly have fun tailgating. Please plan to help out with ticket selling or collecting, or just attend the pre-party at the Club tent. It is a great event for community interaction, that really helps the students from both schools to undertake activities for the next year! AND, a great opportunity to share your tickets with a potential member you may be thinking about. Have that person come to the tailgating party. A free hot dog can go a long way, and after they drink the kool aid, we can sign them up right then and there!

This Monday will be more of a buildup to the sports season as we learn about the grass roots community program, Joy of Sports., from two very engaged locals, Rotarian John Abel and Terry Singer.

The Club looks forward to your attendance on Monday and at the Cocoa Bean Game.
