Included will be an update on the Hershey Rotary collaboration with the Eastern Regional Hospital in Ghana. Dr. Fr edrick is a professor of family and community medicine\, public health sc iences\, and humanities at the Penn State College of Medicine. He serve s as the founding director of the medical center’s Global Health Center. The Global Health Center coordinates international collaborations for th e College of Medicine. He is the director of the Global Health Scholars Program for medical students. His primary international involvements hav e been in Haiti and Ghana. For Haiti he and his wife Jen formed a non-pr ofit called Thriving Villages International which serves a very poor and remote area called Pestel with some of the basics of life such as water\, education\, and nutrition. In Ghana he has overseen a robust collaborat ion between the Hershey Medical Center and the Eastern Regional Hospital. Prior to the pandemic the medical center had personnel in Ghana for 50% of the year. The medical center has assisted the Eastern Regional Hospi tal with clinical and research expertise\, and the Hershey Medical Center has benefited greatly from the wonderful educational and service opportu nities that Eastern Regional has provided. The presentation will provide an overview of global health\, share an update on the Global Health Scho lars Program\, and include a message from our partners in Ghana on the He lping Babies Breathe initiative funded by Hershey Rotary.
